I enjoy playing card games in the first period they start. However, our togetherness is always short-lived, as this type of games also has a competitive side, so they require a very important commitment. I want to have fun, not get mad with building so many decks, not have to follow “meta”… Hearthstone and Gwent both lost me for similar reasons. Someone needs to remind manufacturers that we play games for fun, not to spend time. It probably doesn’t need to be reminded though. I don’t know if I’m speaking too soon again, but so far MARVEL SNAP seems to be giving me exactly what I’m looking for.

MARVEL SNAP is the first game from Second Dinner Studios. When you say it like that, “Who??!” I can assume that you are giving a reflection, but these friends are not so foreign to those who are actually related to the subject. You know, Ben Brode, the ex-director of Hearthstone, who made the heavens cry with his gleeful, booming laughter. Hah, it’s his company’s new game. And as I have just implied, it is a very easy game in terms of logic, incredibly fast in terms of gameplay, and completely entertaining. I don’t think he will easily get away from the head of Gwent and Hearthstone, “Let’s play two games so I can enjoy myself”… Because the matches last only 2 or 3 minutes. On the other hand, as you get into it, you will say, “Well, I will keep in mind how I will learn so much, It also proves that you can go deep and add a tactical layer without making you say “it’s a lot of work”. But wait, let me tell you the rules of the game instead of explaining it at length.

As the name suggests, SNAP is a Marvel licensed card game. It features highly acclaimed illustrated cards from a ton of Marvel heroes; each with different strengths and characteristics. We play these hero cards on three ‘places’ on the playing field. Our goal is to surpass the opponent’s power level in two of the three places. We earn 1 mana for each type and a match lasts for a total of 6 types. Are we done so far? Hah, now we come to the part where things get a bit more complex. These places appear completely randomly, and each place has its own special rules. Some very standard stuff.

For example, Hellfire Club, 1-Mana (I say mana, I say “cost” actually, but I will continue to say that because most of us are used to it in terms of mana) you cannot play cards in this region. On the one hand, if you dominate the Marvel world, you naturally realize that the Hellfire Club is referring to the fact that it is a very elite organization and that it excludes the commoners. There are also places that are more complicated and have different rules than usual. For example, Asgard. Whoever wins in this region at the end of the 4th variant draws two more cards. Or another example, Death’s Domain. When you play a card in this zone, you have to destroy the card. Well, isn’t it ridiculous, why should I play cards in that area if it’s going to destroy my card, right? Because in this part, the powers of the cards come into play. The powers of “This card cannot be destroyed” or “This is what happens when this card is destroyed” on some cards start to shine in such situations.

The issue is not just that, when the cards and ground combos come together, the gameplay, which starts very easily, suddenly becomes deep. Thanks to the quick and easy foundation of the game, at no point do you feel lost as in other card games. For example, let’s say that there is a place that completely destroyed the plan you set up in the middle of the tab. Hop, you are playing one Scarlet Witch card in that area and the place is randomly changing to another number! (Because Scarlet Witch has powers that can bend reality; she hailed the comics again!) However, if you do this naturally, you may come across a place that will explode in your hand, you should also take that into account. Some places in the middle can be found in the “Featured” tab, although you will see them more often, in this case, you can set up very different plans. For example, “Bar Sinister” was on Featured when I was writing this article. It directly copies the card you play here 3 times and fills it completely. You can normally play only 4 cards in one place, but if you use it sensibly, it is possible to set up much more effective games.

For example, in a game I played, I filled Bar Sinister with Jessica Jones (+4 is added to your power if you don’t play a card in the next suit there), and then “The Bifrost”, which kicks in as soon as that turn ends (at the end of 4th medicine, it shifts all cards to one right place). ), when that side was left blank, I also printed The Thing. Thus, I created 8 cards in total, using that mechanic and since these are always strong cards, I strengthened my hand in a fast form. It’s another pleasure to match these stylistic combos. The nice thing is, because the matches take place very quickly, you don’t get very angry even if these tactics are done to you, because it is very easy and fast to make up for the points you lost again.

Oh, let me add that without forgetting, there is also SNAP that gives the game its name! It has mechanics. If you are sure that you will win (or if you want to bluff the opponent), you can “SNAP” the opponent by clicking on the cube friend at the top of the screen. In the usual case of winning/losing, you are putting 2 points, but suddenly you are putting double points in the middle. It is customary that your opponent can also do this, if both parties SNAP, you deposit a total of 8 points. Just in case you snatched up and SNAPed (or SNAPed) things didn’t go as expected, if you “give up” you can drop out of the match by losing half of the points put in. This feature, which has been different and fun, and especially the opponent SNAP to you! It’s extra fun to beat him while he’s shooting.

Of course, no matter how fun it is, if the card collecting part is a money trap, there is a risk that your enthusiasm will fall short. Marvel SNAP has managed to establish a relatively stable, fair and generous system in this respect. In the Market part, the game has two different units: Gold and Credits. Gold is the rarer “premium” unit that you can buy for real money or earn when you reach certain milestones. The most important things you can get with this are the variant designs of the cards in your hand and the Credit.

You actually earn a lot of Credits as you play the game, and you use these credits mostly to improve the quality of your cards. Speaking of quality, this is pretty cool and purely cosmetic. At first there is a flat image and frame, when you switch to the higher level Uncommon, the character breaks the frame and moves it out, when you update it to Rare, the image turns into 3D; Epic adds animation to the background of the card, and makes the Legendary card’s logo shine and effect. If you can increase it to Ultra, it has animation in a form compatible with frame animation.

There’s also an Infinity level at the end of it – where things get a little more interesting, where the frame of your card changes once again and gets a purplish glow, splitting at the same time adding another card with special background or glow effects to your deck. Since these new cards have multiple variants and effects that quickly make them sure, it’s quite a reputation to get them. Oh, there is another very important reason for increasing the quality of your cards in this way: Every time you increase the quality of your cards, you earn points for your Collection level depending on the quality, and when you reach the obvious levels, new cards, boosters that will increase the quality of the cards, credits, etc. you earn.

MARVEL SNAP is currently a great ideal game as a quick time killer. I can’t say anything about what happens as soon as it derails in the future or what happens at a much more competitive and high skill level, but for now I enjoyed the process quite a lot. OK on mobile but Early Access on PC

It’s clear that MARVEL SNAP was designed to be portable. However, it is a nice move that it does not exclude those who want to play on PC. However, I must add that the PC version is now missing parts, which is exactly why it was released under the “Early Access” label. The producer group announced that they will add special options for PC in the future and make this experience better. If you have the opportunity, I would say play the portable version for now, but.
