Now, private companies have become the leaders of space. Fundamental institutions such as NASA, ESA or JAXA have been expanding the horizons of humanity for decades with their scientific and technical experience. Indeed, it will be companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin that will make space travel and shipping cheaper. Therefore, a valuable part of future space missions; will no longer be controlled by states, but by private companies.
So what will we see? If we really work, in which space missions can we see the scientists, engineers or managers of our country one day? Don’t be so pessimistic so quickly. There are dozens of people who come out of Turkey and sweat at companies like NASA and SpaceX. ( Like Arsev Erarslan , who once worked for the Apollo mission …)
Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the 15 space missions planned to be carried out in the next 10 years.
2020: Mars Rover mission organized by NASA:
The vehicles on Mars are far behind compared to our technologies on Earth. NASA most recently sent the non-rover Insight vehicle to study the tremors of the Red Planet last year. In 2020, Mars Rover, a wheeled robotic laboratory with advanced imaging technologies, will be sent this time.
Although NASA does not give a clear date for the launch processes at this time, the rockets will take off between July 17 and mid-August 5. With the vehicle expected to reach Mars in February 2021, humanity is planned to have a new rover on the Martian surface.
The mission deadline for Mars Rover will be 687 Earth days. Indeed, this deadline can be extended by NASA if the vehicle is solid. The Opportunity vehicle, which was sent in 2004 with only a 90-day mission period, had a mission until 2018, and our relationship was broken in a sandstorm last.
2021: ExoMars to be organized again by the European Space Agency and the Russian Space Agency
Of course, NASA isn’t the only government agency working for Mars. Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) and ESA (European Space Agency) also want to reach the neighboring planet. Moreover, the ExoMars vehicle will search for traces of potential life on Mars!
In 2016, a satellite called TGO (Gas Trace Orbiter) was sent to Mars orbit as the first phase of the mission. This satellite began scanning areas on the Martian surface that are heavy in methane gas. The second phase of the mission will be carried out with the ExoMars vehicle, which will be sent in 2021.
2021: Russia’s space tourism project
The Russian Space Agency is preparing to sign a very different project with ExoMars within the same year. The Russians, who joined the company called Space Adventures, which was founded in the USA in 1998, set their sights on the International Space Station, which is now a scientific research center. The station’s scientific mission on the calendar will end in 2024. By this date, Russians and a private company from the USA will start organizing touristic flights to the station.
It is quite possible to go on vacation to space. A new sibling is coming to the International Space Station in the same years. Currently, China’s work on this issue continues. In fact, humanity is no longer at a station around the Earth, but on the Moon and Mars, which satisfies the conviction.
2021: The James Webb Space Telescope, the most advanced observation instrument in history
James Webb, developed by NASA and replacing the Hubble Space Telescope, has been delayed repeatedly until today. The rockets of the Ariane 5 company, which carries space cargo for ESA, will be used to launch the telescope.
The James Webb Space Telescope promises more than just the fascinating space photos we see today. We look forward to it!
2022: Indian astronauts go into space
India, which has one of the world’s most advanced technology space agencies, will reap the fruits of long-term work in 2022. The Indian Space Agency (ISRO) plans to send the first set of astronauts it has trained into space for 7 days in 2022. If all goes well, we could also see the mission accomplished in 2021.
There will also be a female fighter pilot in the middle of the Indian astronauts.
2022: SpaceX heads to Mars to mine
There are also those who work to get to know the underground resources of Mars and to have a prior knowledge of the dangers during the construction of a possible civilization. SpaceX will send its unmanned vehicles to Mars in 2022 to establish mining systems and life-sustaining infrastructure.
Two years after these vehicles reach Mars, the people who will use them will also reach Mars. We’ll talk about this in a moment. Now continue as usual.
2022: China’s space station and Moon base
In January 2019, China, which is known as the dark side of the Moon and which we cannot see from Earth, will establish a new station. The main purpose of this station will be to facilitate more frequent voyages between the Moon and the Earth. In a way, regular expeditions will be made to the Moon by getting rid of the gravitational influence of the Earth to a significant extent. Unmanned vehicles can be sent to Mars from one-to-one stations. China is not sharing detailed information about this station now. Still, even that much looks very exciting.
2023: Security in space is perfect
In 2023, the European Space Agency will deliver a vehicle to a binary asteroid system for the first time in history with the Hera Mission. These vehicles will make a very valuable mission on two small asteroids called Didymos. Other asteroids approaching Earth will be observed over small asteroids in distant Earth orbit. Possible hazards will be calculated.
In this middle, each of the Didymos asteroids is as big as the Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
2023: 8 artists and 1 business person travel to the Moon
The spacecraft named Starship, which SpaceX plans to use for distant space travels, will reach the Moon in 2023 with 9 human passengers. One of these 9 individuals is Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese businessman who bought the other 8 tickets and supported the project. The other 8 passengers will be 8 artists working in 8 different art departments.
Maezawa expects all 8 artists to transform their experiences into works of art during this trip. The 8-man roster is expected to be announced soon.
2025: Japanese go to moons of Mars
JAXA (Japanese Space Agency) managed to land on the surface of an asteroid last year. Now the agency’s purpose is the Phobos moon orbiting Mars. Previously, Fobos-Grunt, a vehicle of the Russian Space Agency, was tried to be sent in 2011, but the mission was unsuccessful. Hopes moved to China, they will bloom again in 2025.
If successful, the sent spacecraft will return to Earth after 5 years.
If successful, the spacecraft will return to Earth five years later, hopefully shedding light on whether Mars’ moons were caught in asteroids or the outcome of devastating planetary influences.
2025: World’s largest telescope opens
One of the most interesting space projects will take place on earth. This center, whose official name is The Extremely Large Telescope for now, will be located in Chile and will open our horizons. The center’s ability to detect distant planets, which can detect 13 times more light than today’s most powerful telescopes, is very curious.
2025: Deep Space Station with 4 crews will be sent to lunar orbit
We told you before that the idea of establishing a station in Earth orbit is now over. NASA and other international partners are building a station that will orbit the Moon. The first major step of the project, which will gain momentum from 2020, will be taken in 2025 and a station will be sent to the lunar orbit.
In this station, 4 astronauts will be able to serve at the same time. Just like in the ISS, research will be carried out on this station, and deep space will be observed for long periods of time.
2026: Journey to the giant asteroid Psyche
Psyche, one of the 10 largest asteroids in the Solar System, will be visited in 2022 by a vehicle to be sent from Earth. The journey of the vehicle will take 4 years. The giant object, with an age of 226 kilometers, is the module of a large asteroid generation.
The generation in question is so large that Psyche alone accounts for only 1% of the total mass. It will be very exciting to see it up close.
2029: We will see Jupiter from its atmosphere this time
Jupiter, the largest planet in the Solar System, has always been a place we’ve seen from outside until now. We do not have enough opportunity to see the planet, which is claimed to be mostly composed of gas, from inside its atmosphere. Some of the planet’s storms are larger than Earth.
But a small vehicle, with enough technical equipment, can reach places we cannot see with our eyes. It’s not certain, but we’ll never know until we try. We have another remedy for waiting excitedly for the Juice mission to be organized by ESA. If we try to guess, one day we will not be content with watching.
After 10 years: Mars, Mars, Mars!
NASA and SpaceX are badly obsessed with establishing a human civilization on the Red Planet. Thanks to its resemblance to Earth, it is known that it is possible to live on Mars with sufficient technical equipment. If there are any of you who want to wake up on Mars one day, they are aware of what a precious revolution this will be.
As always, we will be at work to convey what is going on to you. Stay tuned.
